Our crew has significant aviation experience and the best training available.  Our jet crews are constantly trained in-house, with annual visits to Flight Safety International, a 60 year old training and testing company with the most advanced training systems in the industry.

Ken Phlamm


Ken earned his Private Pilot’s License in 1988 and has since logged more than 8000 hours total time. Combining his passion for aviation with an entrepreneurial drive, Ken purchased Travel Express Aviation in 2000. He has steadily expanded the company from its roots as a small local flying club to a larger well-respected FBO in the Chicago market. All under one roof and under Ken’s leadership, Travel Express Aviation (TEA), Travel Express Aviation Maintenance (TEAM) and North Central Air Charter (NCAC) provide aircraft rental, instruction, maintenance, management, sales and charter. Ken’s professional, philanthropic and business affiliations include memberships with NBAA, AOPA, NAFI, FSANA, EAA and the Shriners.

Mark Johnson


Mark Johnson’s aviation journey began as a young boy. He had a fascination for anything aviation related. Several model airplanes hung from his ceiling as he dreamed of a day that he would fly. Prior to aviation Mark graduated from University of Illinois, Champaign Urbana with a bachelor’s in music education and worked as a musician for 25 years. His love for aviation never faded and when he heard there was a need for pilots in this industry he decided to follow his dream and worked to get his Private Pilot’s License in 2000 has since logged more than 3000 total hours.

Throughout his aviation career he has earned respect as not only a private pilot, but also a flight instructor. He also worked as the head of a Part-91 flight department and later flew for a Part-135 operation. Mark is certified to fly Pipers, Cirrus, L-39, Citation Bravo, Citation Ultra and Hawker 800s.  Mark is passionate about humanitarian projects and has been involved in several housing rebuilds after natural disasters.

Matt Mukenschnabl


Matt Mukenschnabl has been an A&P certified mechanic since 1993 and has had an IA Certificate since 2001. He is certified on the Dassault Falcon 20, Socata TBM 700, TBM 850, TBM 850 (with G1000), Cessna 650 maintenance initial/advanced troubleshooting, Sovereign, Phenom 300, and Airbus Helicopter AS350B3. Matt also has training with large series Pratt and Whitney Engines.
